Weekly Look at Interesting WagerWeb Sportbook Betting Lines
by Dave Schwab - 1/9/2012
WagerWeb is one of the most popular full-service sportsbooks in the gaming industry that offers wagering options on a full line of sporting events. What makes its Web site a bit different from some of the other sportsbooks is that it clearly identifies which sports currently have active lines and which ones remain inactive at this time. The following is a look at some of the different sports betting lines that are available for this week.
BCS Championship and NFL Divisional Round Playoffs
Football continues to capture most of the attention with the college football BCS Championship Game from New Orleans on the slate for Monday night and four NFL Divisional Round playoff games on-tap for this upcoming weekend. Alabama is a 2.5-point favorite over LSU in the national title game with the total set at 40.5 points. There are also a full set of prop bets for Monday night’s game with odds for everything from which team will score first to which quarter will post the most total points. There are college football odds for just about any aspect of this game that you can think of.
Moving on to the NFL, the New Orleans Saints are 3.5-point road favorites over San Francisco and the New England Patriots have been opened as 13.5-point home favorites over the upstart Denver Broncos in Saturday’s two games. Sunday’s matinee has the Baltimore Ravens favored by 9.5 points at home over the Houston Texans and late game features the Green Bay Packers as nine-point home favorites over the New York Giants.
NBA and College Basketball
If football is not your thing, then check out a full line of individual game odds for both the NBA and NCAA men’s basketball on a daily basis. Right now there are no active future lines or prop bets for the NBA, but check back regularly as WagerWeb will update the odds for each team’s chances to win their respective conference and world championship as well as the odds for league MVP and rookie of the year. The same holds true for college basketball, as the odds for winning a National Championship are constantly being recalculated after the results of the previous week’s games.
NHL
If you like hockey betting, right now there are daily odds posted for the puck line spread, money line, and total line for each matchup on the slate. One unique line offered for professional hockey is known as the Grand Salami. Each day, WagerWeb posts an ‘over/under’ total for all the goals scored that day based on how many games there are. You can also wager on whether or not the home teams or away teams combine to score more goals than the other. For example, on Monday’s schedule there are only three games so the Grand Salami line on the ‘over/under’ is 10.5 with the money line set at -115 on the ‘over’ and -105 on the ‘under’. The Grand Salami money line for home and away goals is set at +100 for home goals and -120 for away goals.
Professional Soccer
Another sport that has active lines for this week is soccer. There are a number of different leagues that WagerWeb will post lines for representing countries from around the world. A few of the more popular ones include England’s FA Cup and Barclays Premiership, Italy’s Copa Italia, and the United States’ MLS. There are also lines offered for a full-line of International competition based on the current schedule. This is another sport that should be re-visited on a daily basis as lines are continuously being posted for individual games.
PGA Golf
The PGA is back in action and while WagerWeb will post individual golfer odds for the top contenders in that week’s field, they will also post head-to-head matchup odds for a select group of golfers for each particular round. The fourth and final round of this year’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions from Hawaii is set for Monday afternoon. And while it is too late to get a bet in on who will win, you could have made a wager on a head-to-head matchup between Sean O’Hair at +100 verses Bubba Watson at -140 based on their fourth-round scores.
