2012 Super Bowl Props to Avoid
by Aaron Smith - 2/3/2012
As the popularity of the Super Bowl continues to grow, the books have found that prop betting on the big game is a major money maker. Throughout the season there may be a few bettors here and there who are focusing on props, but that pales in comparison to the focus that comes on these wagers on Super Bowl Sunday. These prop bets started with simple bets such as rushing or passing yardage for an individual player, but as the popularity of prop betting has gained the number of offerings has multiplied infinitely.

2012 Super Bowl Totals Betting Trends
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/2/2012
Heading into the 46th edition of the Super Bowl, the 'over' and 'under' are deadlocked at 22-22. There was no total for Super Bowl I. Even though the totals are split at 22 all, there are still some interesting Super Bowl totals betting trends to look at. Five of the last seven Super Bowls have gone under the total.

2012 Alternate Super Bowl Lines
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/2/2012
If you do not agree with the oddsmakers, alternate Super Bowl lines give you the bettor a chance to make your own line, sort of. For the Super Bowl there are a number of different alternate lines for both the side and total. Instead of New England -3 and a total of 53, the side and total are adjusted and so is the juice and payout.

This Week in NFL Betting By the Numbers
by Darin Zank - 2/2/2012
We're down to the final game of this NFL season, No. 267, excluding the make-believe of the preseason and the farce that is the Pro Bowl. It's also know as Super Bowl XLVI, a little get-together this year over in Indianapolis (of all places) between two teams that just met in this same game a few years ago; the Giants and the Patriots.

Super Bowl Handicapping: Media Day Hyperbole
by Trevor Whenham - 2/1/2012
Is it just me or did Media Day seem to lose some of its shine this year? It's always a big spectacle, but it has increasingly gotten more and more ridiculous, and it seems like it was less relevant than ever before as a result. Of course, it didn't help that the game is in Indianapolis so Peyton Manning is overshadowing everything that happens.

For bettors, the Super Bowl is easily the highlight of the year - like a kid going to Disney World for the first time. But in many ways, it's almost too daunting. There are so many prop bets available that it's easy to get a bit overwhelmed and stretched too thin.

Super Bowl Quarterback Props: Betting Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/31/2012
The biggest stars in this Super Bowl, like in virtually every Super Bowl, are the quarterbacks. Tom Brady is as big as a star can be, and Eli Manning has climbed to a whole new level of esteem with his performance down the stretch and in the playoffs. It's not oversimplifying the game too much to say that the player who plays best will lead his game to the win.

Super Bowl Betting Advice and Predictions: Cross-Sport Props
by Trevor Whenham - 1/30/2012
I love looking at all the Super Bowl prop bets every year. The ones that are consistently my favorite are the cross-sport props. It allows you to think about the game in a different way than you normally do, and forces you to make some assumptions that you don't normally have to make. Here's a look at three of the more interesting cross-sport Super Bowl prop bets for Super Bowl XLVI (all Super Bowl odds are from Bovada) along with some betting advice and predictions:

Super Bowl Props Betting: Rushing and Running Back Props Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/30/2012
The running backs are a bit of an afterthought when you think about Super Bowl XLVI. Neither the Giants nor the Patriots are particularly great running teams, and that is in large part because both are so effective through the air. Neither of these defenses is particularly good at stopping the run, though, so there is a chance that the teams could gain some momentum on the ground if they choose to pursue that.

Super Bowl Betting: Handicapping the Quarterbacks
by Aaron Smith - 1/27/2012
Four years ago the Patriots went into Super Bowl XLII with a perfect record, but it was the Giants who spoiled that chance at perfection and won the Super Bowl. The Giants and the Patriots will meet on Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. After an offseason with lots of questions, the NFL has produced plenty of excitement throughout the season. Now it's time for the biggest day of the year in all of sports.

Odd Super Bowl Bets
by Trevor Whenham - 1/27/2012
Every year the bookmakers get more and more creative in setting up prop bets to draw attention and separate people from their cash. This year is definitely no exception. Here's a look at some of the odd Super Bowl bets just waiting to be made by suckers:

Super Bowl MVP Odds and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 1/26/2012
It is no secret that the NFL has become almost solely a quarterback-driven league. Signal callers have always stolen the show in the sport and been the sources of the majority of acclaim (and criticism). And with the new rules that advocate and endorse passing as well as the rules that overly protect quarterbacks,The Most Difficult Position In Sports has, in a lot of respects, gotten a lot easier over the past several years.

Super Bowl Teaser Bets: Picks and Predictions
by Robert Ferringo - 1/26/2012
Teasers. It is a controversial word in NFL football betting. Some football bettors and handicappers think that these types of wagers are ridiculous and, along with parlays, are a sportsbook's best friend. Others feel that they can be a valuable resource in a gambler's arsenal and when used properly can help someone boost their bankroll.

Super Bowl Betting: Money Management
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2012
For many sports bettors it is the most exciting day of the year - the day that is circled on the calendar months in advance. NFL Odds: First Touchdown Super Bowl Props and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 1/26/2012
One of the greatest things about the Super Bowl, besides the game itself is the hundreds of proposition bets that sportsbooks offer in conjunction with the games. There are prop bets for just about any aspect of this game both on and off the field, but one of the most popular one is betting on which player scores the first touchdown of the game.

How to Bet Super Bowl Props
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 1/26/2012
Sports proposition bets are available throughout the year, but when it comes to the Super Bowl, well, it's the 'Super Bowl' of prop betting. Sportsbooks offer literally hundreds of potential prop bets, some dealing with the game itself, some having to do with commercials, the broadcast, the coin flip, the halftime show, the color of the Gatorade poured on the winning coach…well you get the point.

Betting on the Super Bowl Coin Toss
by Alan Matthews - 1/26/2012
I'm not here to give free advertising to anyone, but I have proof that the popularity of betting the Super Bowl coin toss has taken on a life of its own. And because of that, this year's coin toss before next Sunday's Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis between New England and the New York Giants is the most important ever.

Super Bowl Halftime Betting: Advice and Strategy
by Trevor Whenham - 1/26/2012
There are a lot of reasons not to be sober by the time halftime rolls around in the Super Bowl, but there is at least one good reason for value-loving bettors to keep their head until then. Halftime is, of course, when you can make halftime bets. Those bets don't get nearly as much attention as the full game lines or totals or the prop bets, but they quite possibly offer more value than any of those other options.

Betting the Super Bowl 'Over' and 'Under'
by Dave Schwab - 1/25/2012
All season long we have been trying to hammer the book with our 'best bets' on the total line in the NFL and did a fairly good job with an overall record of 29-20-2. We went on to come out on the plus side of the ledger in the playoffs, but now it is time to sharpen our pencils even more on an already sharp total line for Super Bowl XLVI. This article will explain a little about betting the Super Bowl 'over' and 'under', and also give some free Super Bowl picks for the total.

2012 Super Bowl Handicapping
by Trevor Whenham - 1/24/2012
On Feb. 5 the latest edition of the biggest sporting event on the planet will take place in Indianapolis. Super Bowl XLVI lacks the biggest names of this season thanks to an odd ride through the NFC Playoffs, but the game still promises to be a great one thanks to some nice storylines.

2012 Super Bowl Rematch: Betting Trends and Comparison
by Trevor Whenham - 1/24/2012
We're early in the build up to the Super Bowl, but the biggest storyline so far has been that this game, Super Bowl XLVI, is a rematch of the Super Bowl XLII, which was won by the Giants 17-14 thanks to one of the least likely catches we have seen in years. The fact that these teams met in the same game just four years ago ultimately won't be the biggest controlling factor in the outcome of the game, but it's an interesting factor to look at. Let's dissect the Super Bowl rematch from four different angles:

2012 Super Bowl Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/24/2012
I'll be honest - I did not predict that the New York Giants would be playing in the Super Bowl. Not even close. The 49ers were my team from the start, and the fact that they aren't there is a clear lesson in how brutal and hard to handicap the NFL can be - ultimately I was wrong because San Francisco's backup punt returner wasn't good enough.

2012 Free Super Bowl Picks
by Alan Matthews - 1/24/2012
It's never too early to provide Doc's readers with free Super Bowl picks even though the game is still 12 days away, so here I am to do just that. Of course, I also will add one caveat: always wait until the last minute to get those bets down. You never know when an injury could occur during practice before the Super Bowl or if a team's starting center goes haywire and gets suspended for the big game (sorry for the low blow, Raiders fans).

Tips and Advice for betting Super Bowl Props
by Alan Matthews - 1/24/2012
There is simply nothing like the Super Bowl when it comes to betting options. Sure, soccer might be the world's game - outside of this country - but you can take your World Cup or Euro 2012 or Olympics, you name it. The Super Bowl dwarfs any other sporting event on the planet in terms of the types of bets players can make.
