Super Bowl Odds and Betting Advice
by Trevor Whenham - 2/6/2011
It looked early on as if the Super Bowl odds for the 45th edition of the game were going to be volatile, but that just hasn't turned out to be the case at all. It has been quite the opposite really, as this has been one of the least interesting Super Bowls in history when judged on line movement. The reason for that is really fairly simple - the oddsmakers got it right, and they got it right quickly.

Super Bowl Halftime Betting: Advice and Strategy
by Trevor Whenham - 2/6/2011
If you are still sober by halftime of the Super Bowl then you might be able to grab your best shot at a profit betting on the game -- or at least the best value you'll see. Halftime betting doesn't get nearly as much attention as betting on the whole game or making prop bets, but for bettors that understand the challenges of the bets and are able to face them strategically, Super Bowl halftime betting is a smart way to go with this game.

Super Bowl Props to Avoid
by Trevor Whenham - 2/4/2011
I love the betting aspect of the Super Bowl. Normally I am all about finding value, and value is very tough to find in this game -- much tougher than normal -- so it's not really an attractive betting game. The spectacle of the game is just too much to resist, though -- the pageantry of the event, the craziness of the coverage, and the ridiculous brilliance of the betting options.

Odds to Win Super Bowl XLV: Balanced Betting the Story So Far
by Richard Gardner | Bodog Sportsbook Manager - 2/3/2011
Super Bowl XLV is looking like a winner for Bodog, and the two teams haven't even kicked off yet. The big game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Cowboys Stadium has drawn such balanced action so far that we don't expect to be exposed on either side come game time, which should make for a much more relaxing watching experience for our odds makers.

The single biggest sporting event of the year is finally here. Super Bowl 45 will take place this Sunday night, and it is expected to be a terrific matchup. Super Bowl Odds: Betting on the MVP
by Alan Matthews - 2/2/2011
Other than betting the Super Bowl coin toss, there is no prop more popular for the Super Bowl than betting on the game's MVP. And as expected, both starting quarterbacks are the big favorites to win the Super Bowl XLV MVP award when Pittsburgh and Green Bay face off Sunday outside Dallas. A quarterback has won the award 23 times. No other position is within a mile of that total.

Super Bowl Handicapping
by Trevor Whenham - 2/2/2011
The Super Bowl is not just the biggest annual football game in the world. It's the biggest sporting event in the world. That's a bold claim, but in terms of viewers, betting interest and many other measures it is true. It's also very different than any other football game that is played. Sure, every team that plays in the game has played 18 or 19 other games to get there. None of those games, though, come close to this one in terms of pressure, intensity, or scrutiny.

Super Bowl Betting Advice and Tips: Quarter Lines Betting
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/2/2011
In the Super Bowl, one quarter is bigger, more scrutinized, and heck, almost as long as some regular season games. So why not wager on it? There are quarter lines for all NFL games, but when Super Bowl Sunday rolls around these Super Bowl quarter lines get plenty of attention. What happens in each individual quarter is a big deal during the big game, and not just because of Super Bowl Squares pools that pay out after each quarter.

Super Bowl Predictions and Odds for Alternate Lines
by Darin Zank - 2/2/2011
Alternate NFL football lines, also known as alternative lines, can be a lot of fun to bet on, and they give bettors multiple options on games with what they might consider weak lines. And the upcoming Super Bowl takes things to a different level, with almost every sportsbook around offering lines with odds other than the basic pointspread.

Super Bowl Handicapping Trends for Betting: Two-Week Layoff
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 2/2/2011
Take away all the Super Bowl hoopla, the 105,000 capacity stadium, the thousand dollar seats, the million dollar commercials, the onslaught of fans, media and attention, and perhaps the biggest difference in the Super Bowl for players on both sides is the two-week layoff between conference championship Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday.

Keys to a Great Super Bowl Party
by Robert Ferringo - 2/2/2011
I don't care about the food. I don't care about the size of the television. I don't care about the booze offered. If you want to have a kick-ass Super Bowl party you need to have one thing: a lot of gambling. The general public still, to a certain extent, frowns upon the idea of legalized gambling and views people like myself as degenerates operating on the fringe of the law. But on Super Bowl Sunday its as if every red-blooded, hypocritical American has the green light to get some action down.

Super Bowl Props: Predictions for Betting on the Quarterbacks
by Darin Zank - 2/1/2011
Super Bowl 45 offers up a great quarterback matchup, as a two-time champion in Ben Roethlisberger goes against a guy crowned by many in the football media as the next greatest thing, Aaron Rodgers. And among the Super Bowl prop bets -- almost too many to name -- is a whole series related to the performances of the starting quarterbacks. Bettors can take a shot at picking how many passes each QB will complete, how many touchdown passes they'll throw, how many yards they'll throw for, whether they'll get picked off, which QB will throw for the most yards, and a slew of other things.

There are so many story lines for every Super Bowl that it's almost hard to focus just on a few. Super Bowl Betting Trends
by Trevor Whenham - 1/31/2011
The problem with having two weeks between the championship round and the Super Bowl is that we have too much time to think. If the time frame was shorter then we'd just have time to handicap the game and make a bet. Now, though, we can handicap the game, then handicap it again, then read and hear what all the experts think, then look at the game from every possible angle, and so on. It's enough to drive us all crazy. This won't help -- here are seven Super Bowl betting trends that have emerged over the years in the big game that have, more or less, to do with the outcome of the game this year:

Betting the Super Bowl Total
by Robert Ferringo - 1/28/2011
Prior to last year's Super Bowl I questioned whether or not defense was allowed in the NFL playoffs anymore. After an unprecedented 'over' run throughout the 2010 playoffs, I was convinced that no one among the elite teams is capable of stopping anyone else on the elite teams when it mattered most.

Super Bowl Props Predictions: First Touchdown Betting
by Darin Zank - 1/28/2011
This is a Super Bowl prop bet that NFL handicappers might want to do a little shopping on. Generally the boards are going to look similar, with running backs and wide receivers topping the betting, but there will be variations, and possibly something to take advantage of. For example, Pittsburgh WR Hines Ward is listed at +800 to score the first Super Bowl TD at BetUS, but he's getting +1,000 at Bookmaker and 12/1 at Bodog.

Super Bowl Betting: Money Management
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 1/28/2011
Most New Year's resolutions go out the window well before February, but any resolutions involving eating and weight gain have little chance of surviving past Super Bowl Sunday. Betting the Super Bowl 'Over' and 'Under'
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 1/27/2011
As soon as the Packers and Steelers had sewn up their respective conference championship games, everybody knew the Packers were 2.5-point favorites according to the Super Bowl odds. Barring any major injuries that line appears to be steady. For some bettors the line that is just as important, if not more important, is the total. For bettors that like to pay attention to line moves, there has been plenty of movement with this year's Super Bowl 'over/under'.

Famous Super Bowl Bets

About $83 million was bet on the Super Bowl last year in Las Vegas, and who knows how much more when including the world of Internet sportsbooks and local bookies. Super Bowl Squares Pool Strategy
by Aaron Smith - 1/25/2011
The popularity of the Super Bowl means that getting a Super Bowl contest of some kind together is usually a simple task. One of the most popular ways for everyone to get involved now is a Super Bowl Squares betting pool. The typical Super Bowl Square will have 100 squares sold with each square costing the same amount of money. All 100 squares will contain a different number. The second number in the score of the Super Bowl game is always the number that is used to determine the winner. For example, if the final score of this Super Bowl ends up being Green Bay 24 and Pittsburgh 21, the winners would be four and one.

2011 Super Bowl Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 1/25/2011
After a very long, often brilliant season we finally have our Super Bowl matchup set. After everything that has happened, it's interesting to note that this is one of the more predictable finals we have seen in a while. The last five years we have seen at least one Super Bowl team that could be called a surprise. This year, though, both teams came into the season as elite contenders, and Pittsburgh would have been given even more credit if Big Ben hadn't been forced to take the first four weeks off.

Betting on the Super Bowl Coin Toss
by Alan Matthews - 1/24/2011
Is betting on the Super Bowl coin toss one of the most inane bets out there? I certainly think so, but it's also one of the most popular Super Bowl bets there are (hey, bettors want to start the game off right and reinvest their winnings), and that's why Bodog has had odds up on the Super Bowl coin toss, for example, since well before the 2010 NFL season even began.

Super Bowl Odds: Packers Set as Slight Favorites Over Steelers
by Trevor Whenham - 1/24/2011
The matchup is set, and it's probably the one that the majority of people wanted to see -- at least those people outside of New York and Chicago. Both of these teams, the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, are very strongly supported by the public, so betting volume -- which is obviously always huge for the Super Bowl -- will be even higher than normal. That means that the line is going to be under intense pressure, and could easily be on the move throughout the next two weeks.
