First Big Football Weekend in Vegas
by Vegas Sports Informer - 9/18/2009
Both the NFL and college football were on the TVs in all Las Vegas sports books last weekend. The books had mixed results last weekend, Saturday they killed the customers, Sunday they got killed and Monday they cleaned up again. It was exciting too see the books active and busy because, don't forget, we are still in a recession and Vegas has been hit hard.
Saturday the Vegas books killed the public because Oklahoma St, Notre Dame, and the big one USC did not cover. Everybody had USC -7. When the game ended the books were silent! It was very nice, as I was at a Vegas book to cash my 'under' ticket on the game. Sunday was a different story! The money wouldn't stop coming on Baltimore, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Dallas, San Francisco and Green Bay. Every one of those games covered and the books had lines to cash. If the Bengals cover it could have been much worse but Sunday was bad for all Vegas sports books.
On Monday Vegas got back most of the money they lost on Sunday as, again, the public was all over New England and San Diego. All day Monday you heard "Give me New England and San Diego for $20. Easy money!". There were a whole bunch of two-team, seven-point teasers on both of them and even the teasers went down in flames. Overall Vegas made a profit on those three days of pigskin plays and again Saturday was the big day. Thanks USC!
Check back next week as I will recap the Vegas books again on Football weekend! Check my Insider's Page here for more info on my weekend football picks.
