Betting Repercussions Of Tiger Wood's Hiatus From Golf
by Trevor Whenham - 12/18/2009
Stunning. Ridiculous. There are a million words you could use to describe the Tiger Woods situation. None of them are positive. You have probably heard dozens of jokes about Woods and his dilemma since the tree got in the way. If you're like me then the jokes don't hold much interest anymore because the truth is ridiculous enough by itself.

2009 British Open Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 07/15/2009
Let me be up front with one thing - I don't like the British Open. I hate watching guys hack it out of the ridiculously long grass on the ugly links-style courses. Watching them cope with the rain and ever-present wind bores me. The time difference puts it on at awkward times.

Golf Betting: British Open Props
by Nicholas Tolomeo - 07/15/2009
If a prop bet could ever be tailor made for a specific event it would the Big Four vs. The Field bet available at a number of sportsbooks, including Bodog, for this weekend's British Open. Bettors who take the Big Four are betting on Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy or Lee Westwood to bring home the Claret Jug.

Golf Betting: British Open Without Tiger Woods
by Matt Severance - 07/15/2009
We've had an occasional email here at Doc's asking if people can bet somewhere on golf tournaments but without including Tiger Woods in any of the odds. Because, really, what fun is it to bet on Tiger when he offers no return on your investment?

2009 US Open Golf Odds and Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 06/17/2009
The U.S. Open gets underway at Bethpage Black, the legendary public course on Long Island, tomorrow. Handicapping this tournament is essentially the same as most majors have been for the last five years or more - two guys against the world - but there are a few twists that make this one even more interesting to consider. Let's have a look at my U.S. Open golf predictions (all US Open golf odds are from Bodog):

Handicapping Low-Profile Golf Tournaments
by Trevor Whenham - 05/22/2009
There are two types of PGA tournaments in the world - those that feature Tiger Woods, and the ones that no one cares about. You can come to that same conclusion by a number of different measures - TV viewership, media coverage, attendance, betting volume, and so on. For most bettors, those tournaments that don't feature the great one don't even get a flicker of attention.

Golf Betting: What's with Tiger?
by Trevor Whenham - 05/07/2009
When Tiger Woods returned to action after his leg injury last year, the expectations were, as they always are with Tiger, extremely high. You certainly can't say that he has been a disappointment - he has a win in five starts, and he hasn't finished worse than ninth - but you just can't escape the feeling that something isn't quite right.

2009 Masters Golf Odds and Predictions
by Matt Severance - 04/07/2009
One of the great things about the Masters, even if you normally don't bet on golf, is the variety of prop bets available. Much like the NFL's Super Bowl, the books trot out plenty of unique options for what is probably golf's Super Bowl.

Masters Prop Bets Predictions
by Trevor Whenham - 04/07/2009
The first, and best, major of the golf year is now just a couple of days away. In my view, Tiger Woods has pretty much ruined regular golf betting. He's at 7/4 to win this year, a price that I positively cannot justify as containing even a tiny amount of value. The problem, however, is that he also makes it very hard to justify betting on anyone else. My typical response to that, then, is to look elsewhere for some action to make an already compelling tournament even more compelling.

Tiger Returns at WGC
by Trevor Whenham - 02/25/2009
Tiger Woods is finally back in action. That has to make golf fans the world over happy, but not nearly as happy as it makes PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem. The PGA without Tiger just frankly isn't that interesting. If you have been living under a rock then you won't know that Tiger hasn't played any golf since winning the U.S. Open in June.
