NHL Betting Preview: Buffalo at New York Rangers
by SBG Global - 10/15/2008
Buffalo Sabres (2-0) at New York Rangers (5-0)
Wednesday, 7:35 pm Eastern
SBG Global Opening Line: Rangers - 150 , Total 5.5 Under - 135
The New York Rangers will try and make some history on Wednesday night as they host the Buffalo Sabres. The Rangers go for their sixth straight win to start the season and if they get it they would break the record of the 1983-84 team that started 5-0. "To start the season 5-0, we didn't expect that," said goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. "But on the trip (to Europe) we knew we had a really good group here, and that we understand what we need to do out there on the ice. And all four lines are playing the same way, with the same commitment, which is very important." SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking Rangers at Home.
The special teams of the Rangers have been superb this season. The power play scored twice in their latest win over New Jersey and the penalty killers are still perfect on the season in 21 shorthanded situations. "We haven't played every game perfect," said New York's Brandon Dubinsky, "But the big thing is that we have 23 guys on this team that care deeply about winning and care about each other and are willing to go out and put it on the line every night. And different guys are stepping up every night."
