2008 British Open Betting Preview
by Trevor Whenham - 07/04/2008
Who's going to win the British Open? That's easy. It's a major, so Tiger will put together two uninspiring days Thursday and Friday, make a move Saturday, and be the lone man standing Sunday. No Sweat. Oh wait, the golf world changed, didn't it? Handicapping majors now involves thinking. Damn.

Golf Betting Without Tiger
by Trevor Whenham - 06/26/2008
Tim Finchem, the Commissioner of the PGA, has had his worst nightmare realized - he lives in a world without Tiger Woods. This is just a temporary condition, but it's nothing but bad news for the PGA. Attendance, viewership and overall interest in the Tour will drop until Woods is back in action. With two majors and a Ryder Cup still left to play this year, that's certainly not good news.

US Open Golf Betting Preview
by Trevor Whenham - 06/10/2008
The second jewel in golf's Grand Slam takes place this weekend. It was supposed to be the inevitable second victory for Tiger Woods en route to a Grand Slam and a place in history (not that he doesn't already have one). Things didn't quite work out that way, but this tournament still sets up to be interesting. It is hosted by a municipal course, albeit a spectacular and very famous one. Torrey Pines in San Diego is the host of the Buick Invitational every year, and the South Course will host the Open. As is typical with this tournament, the course is set up at its very nastiest. At 7,643 yards it's also 379 yards longer than the longest ever US Open. Here's a look at six storylines that will have to factor into your US Open golf betting decisions for this tournament.

The Tiger Conundrum for Masters Betting
by Trevor Whenham - 04/09/2008
Tiger Woods has made a mess of betting on golf. There is really no way around it. All you need to do to see that I'm right is to look at the odds for this week's Masters. Phil Mickelson is at 10/1 to win his third green jacket in five years. Vijay Singh, at 18/1, and Geoff Ogilvy at 20/1, are the only other players besides Woods under 25/1. Masters odds have Tiger at even money. Even freaking money. On the surface that is truly ridiculous, totally devoid of value, and impossible to deal with. There's just one problem, though - he may still be worth a play. Or at least he might be if you could consider this kind of potential payout on money that is tied up for four days appealing. That's why he has ruined golf betting - you can't really bet on him, but you can't really afford not to bet on him, either.

2008 Masters Contenders
by Trevor Whenham - 04/09/2008
The NCAA Tournament just ended, so that means that the Masters is just around the corner at Augusta National. Let's not kid ourselves even for a second - this tournament is all about Tiger Woods. If he decides he really wants to win it, and we have been given no reason to believe he won't, then he is the overwhelming favorite to do so. He's at even money for Masters golf odds while his closest competitor, Phil Mickelson, is at 10/1, and Vijay Singh is the only other golfer under 20/1. If he doesn't do it for some reason, though, then there are the usual cast of characters who everyone will be talking about - Phil, Vijay, Adam Scott, Ernie, Padraig Harrington, Retief Goosen and the like.

Golf Handicapping Tips
by Josh Nagel - 01/24/2008
Golf handicapping can be daunting, even for seasoned bettors. Unlike handicapping team sports, where you can search for the little nuances and edges that one team might hold over another, in golf you're looking for the one guy who is going to beat everyone else in a given tournament, which easily consist of 100 opponents or more.
