Strike Point: MLB Weekend Preview
by Strike Point Sports - 07/27/2007
Detroit Tigers at Los Angeles Angels
Two division leaders clash, and this is possibly a preview of one of the ALDS come October. Los Angeles had slipped recently, however they managed to stay atop the AL West with Seattle dipping as well. The Tigers are narrowly above Cleveland in the Central, and we're getting to the point in the season where no series goes unnoticed.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Nate Robertson vs. Jared Weaver
Saturday - Andrew Miller vs. Joe Saunders
Sunday - Jeremy Bonderman vs. Kelvim Escobar
Florida Marlins at San Francisco Giants
No playoff implications here, however all the news outlets will be on Barry Bonds and if the slugger can tee-off on any pitchers before San Fran heads out on the road. With the desire to break the home run record at home, Bonds will definitely be in the lineup all three games.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Rick Vanden Hurk vs. Barry Zito
Saturday - Dontrelle Willis vs. Matt Cain
Sunday - Sergio Mitre vs. Matt Morris
Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals
The Brew Crew are slipping. The Cubbies have narrowed the NL Central lead to just two games, and it's going to be tough for Milwaukee to come in and push the Cards around, especially after St. Louis allowed Chicago to take two of three in the previous series.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Claudio Vargas vs. Mike Maroth
Saturday - Manny Parra vs. Brad Thompson
Sunday - Yovani Gallardo vs. Kip Wells
