Strike Point: MLB Weekend Preview
by Strike Point Sports - 07/05/2007
Boston Red Sox at Detroit Tigers
Two of the AL's best square off in Motown starting Friday. Who knows, this very well could be a preview of a playoff series come October. Boston continues to flourish behind their big three arms, however the Tigers dodge Beckett this time around and Schilling is still stuck on the DL. Detroit is still chasing the Indians after a tough week.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Julian Tavarez vs. Andrew Miller
Saturday - Kason Gabbard vs. Jeremy Bonderman
Sunday - Diasuke Matsuzaka vs. Nate Robertson
Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics
While the Angels remain baseball's best club, the Mariners and A's continue hot pursuit, as no one would be wise to rule either out. Oakland is notorious for chasing down the division leader after several months in a hole, while Seattle seems to be right on pace despite Mike Hargrove resigning last week.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Jeff Weaver vs. Dan Haren
Saturday - Felix Hernandez vs. Lenny DiNardo
Sunday - Ryan Feierabed vs. Joe Blanton
Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees
The dominant Angels head back to the Bronx, a place where they swept the last series. The Yankees are still in their hole, and certainly a shell of their former selves. Now the most interesting part of this series will be the handicapping. What's even more pathetic than the Yankees play this season is linesmakers continually and still installing them as favorites despite their awful play. The Angels are without a doubt the best team in baseball, and if the Yankees are favored in any one of these games, it is flat out a joke.
Probable Pitching Match-ups
Friday - Bartolo Colon vs. Andy Pettitte
Saturday - John Lackey vs. Roger Clemens
Sunday - Ervin Santana vs. Chien-Meng Wang
