Inside Las Vegas
by Vegas Sports Informer - 05/04/2007
Las Vegas will be the sports capital of the world this weekend - and it will be crowded. Not only is the 133rd Kentucky Derby running Saturday but there is also Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather championship fight at MGM Grand Casino. This mega fight is going to overshadow the Kentucky Derby. Not only is the whole state of California going to be in Vegas to bet and watch this fight, but I just can't see horse racing enthusiasts paying $400 per night for a room to come in and bet a race when there are so many Off Track Betting options around the country.
Almost every Strip casino is showing this mega fight either by private viewing or charging tickets to watch the fight (most casinos are charging $75). And if you like action, don't forget the NBA Playoffs are still going on. Saturday will also be Game 7 of the Utah/Houston series. This weekend will also mark the start of the Detroit Pistons/Chicago Bulls series. The NHL Playoffs are also going on and you still have Baseball. Sunday I will be at the Las Vegas Gladiators game as the Gladiators try to stop their losing streak against the LA Avengers. This game will have tons of points scored as LA is one of the top scoring offenses in the Arena League.
Here are the odds right now for the fight and the Kentucky Derby.
Kentucky Derby:
1. Sedgefield 50/1
2. Curlin 7/2
3. Zanjero 30/1
4. Storm In May 30/1
5. Imawildandcrazyguy 50/1
6. Cowtown Cat 20/1
7. Street Sense 4/1
8. Hard Spun 15/1
9. Liquidity 30/1
10. Teuflesberg 50/1
11. Bwana Bull 50/1
12. Nobiz Like Shobiz 8/1
13. Sam P 20/1
14. Scat Daddy 10/1

16. Circular Quay 8/1
17. Stormello 30/1

Fight Odds:
Oscar De La Hoya +160

I feel sorry for the ticket writers on The Strip this weekend, especially for the ones who work at MGM and New York-New York. You know these two casinos will be jumping because of the Derby and the fight. Just remember that those writers are working around 10-12 hours on Saturday so if you win big this weekend TIP THEM.
Every week I will have a new post. So keep an eye out.
