The AFC is Still the Best
by Allen Eastman - 02/06/2007
Weeks ago I told anyone who would listen: Take the AFC over the NFC in Super Bowl XLI. I wasn't necessarily talking about the Colts and Bears. I meant that any of the AFC playoff teams would have beaten any representative from the NFC. The AFC has simply been the better conference for several years. New England, San Diego, Baltimore and, heck, even the New York Jets or Kansas City Chiefs could have beaten Chicago.

Doc's Sports Recommended Super Bowl Prop Bets
by Robert Ferringo - 02/02/2007
How long will the national anthem be? How many has-been Hollywood clowns will the camera pick up in the crowd or on the sidelines? Which will be higher: Prince's weight or rushing yards by the Chicago Bears?

Hypothetical Super Bowl Bets I'd Love To Make
by Trevor Whenham - 02/02/2007
With so many different prop bets available on the Super Bowl, you would think that you could bet on pretty much anything you could possibly think of. Though there is a mind-numbing variety out there, there are some things that just aren't covered. I'm not playing a lot of props for the Super Bowl, but I might actually start thinking about it if the right bets were out there. And what are those bets? Well, here are ten bets I wish I could make:

Seven Reasons the Bears Can Cover
by Trevor Whenham - 01/31/2007
Who is going to win the Super Bowl? That's a very good question, and one that has had a whole lot of ink spilled and breath wasted over it this week. I think I finally know which way I am leaning. Obviously, this is an unofficial pick that is mine and no one else's, but at this point I tend to favor the Bears.

Defense Wins Super Bowls
by Robert Ferringo - 01/30/2007
I often say that football is a violent, brutal game. So, quite naturally, the team that is more violent and brutal will usually win. Only the strong survive, and this maxim has borne itself out time and time again from the bloody core of this beloved, gladiatorial sport.

Super Bowl: Tackling Bodog Quarterback Props
by Trevor Whenham - 01/30/2007
If you're a true degenerate who can't wait until the Super Bowl kicks off, one of the best ways to pass time, and maybe make a few extra bucks at the same time, is to check out the available quarterback prop bets. Both quarterbacks in this game are very interesting, though not at all for the same reason.

Point Spread for Every Super Bowl
by Robert Ferringo - 01/30/2007
You can find just about anything on the Internet: midgets dressed like Greek Gods and acting out "Clash of the Titans", Chewbacca's blog, or Jesus' very own Myspace page are just a few clicks away. However, trying to find the point spread for every Super Bowl turned out to be much more of a chore than I thought.
Super Bowl Betting 101: Understating the Point Spread
by Robert Ferringo - 01/29/2007
Over the weekend I was cruising around Buckhead having a few drinks with an old friend when the topic of Super Bowl betting came up. He mentioned that he had asked "a guy" that he places wagers through to throw down $2,000 on Chicago for him next Sunday. But when I asked my friend what number he got the line at he looked at me like I just asked him to recite the state capitols in reverse alphabetical order.

Betting the Super Bowl Total
by Trevor Whenham - 01/29/2007
I have spent most of the last week scratching my head trying to figure out what to do with the Super Bowl total. The problem is that I can see good arguments for both sides of the number. The total is at 48.5 right now, and it doesn't seem as of now that the bookies have much interest in moving very far from that number.

Misleading Super Bowl Angles
by Trevor Whenham - 01/25/2007
As much as I love football, and the Super Bowl, we are stuck right now in the midst of my least favorite time of the year. I hate this week between the Conference Championships and the big game. Not only is there no football worth watching (with apologies to the Senior Bowl), but we are stuck listening to experts with way too much time on their hands, and nothing worth saying, telling us what is important.

Much of the next week will be focused on the best-known or most-famous commercials that have aired during the history of the game, and everyone will be talking about the big spots that are set to air this year.

Just because we aren't even past the conference playoffs in the NFL yet doesn't mean that you can't be looking towards the Super Bowl. There are only four teams left, so there are only four different possible Super Bowl match-ups to consider and handicap. All of the sportsbooks are offering a wide range of bets for you to make for the big game. 2007 Super Bowl Looks Like Anyone's Ballgame
by Trevor Whenham - 01/17/2007
If there is one thing we have learned in the NFL playoffs so far it is that we don't know much. In the first week, many were caught off-guard by the surprisingly stout Indianapolis defense, the surprisingly flat performances by Kansas City and the Jets, and the disappointing performance of Dallas.
